Just Today

i awoke this morning

silence all around

not even one sound

of a siren, water flushing

or a bird's song

could be found

from the dreamless sleep

i slowly unwound

my tired and painful

body from it's sleeping ground

and began to wonder again

where is my destination

where am I bound

just a moment ago

before that car started up

or that water bubbling stilled the quiet

I knew with certainty

that the Silence

not the riot

of fights I cannot win

was where I

really fit in

just lingering in the Silence

along the way

free from yesterday

just today

Talking about ANCIENT WALLS -- Say You, Say Me

ANCIENT WALLS -- Say You, Say Me

I cannot believe that people, in this current period of humankind, yet resort to methods that have been utilized ( for who knows how many ages) and have never worked or lasted, e.g., the Great Wall of China, all Hitler's barbed fencing (& yet more predating these historical markers). These - so called - edifices have either been erected to keep the ruling Ideology's population IN, or in the fear and ignorance of the fabled rest of the world --keep those unknown ideas, beliefs & once again fear of them, OUT.
It is beyond belief that the spiritual investment of our founding "fathers" & their Ideals are settling into ashes. A wall between Mexico & the U.S. is so ludicrous. For the the great majority of people who pour over our borders it is a matter of survival issue, a desire to have what American Society holds up for the world to see and then when they do see, of course, they want that better life. (and here I must add that for all the glitz & glamor, the abundance of material goods, the wealth of food, promised equality & the opportunity to realize their dreams -- it all makes a pretty picture; and for that image we sacrifice the bodies, the spirits of not only our own American family, but that of countless, innocent & fright-laden individuals (also our family--in a world struggling to BECOME). While there is no proven way to excise the complex maladies struck by the human cord, it would still appear that dedication to Truth & just treatment for all the inhabitants of this planet would be our wisest counsel (along with forgiveness, and attention to the higher aims of love & a willingness to see through the extra mile of patience it may take for a country, a people to gain their own footing).

Political rhetoric spouted out fantastic BRAVOS : " the Berlin Wall is coming down!" (and our government's disciples are even now preparing packaging--to sell to the American people an idea that is archaic & fueled with failure). People scavenged pieces of concrete, rocks from that site to feel in their hand the fall of of this barricade, in their time, of just another outlived obstacle .. The obstacle to being, as Humanity has always sought & fought & died to HAVE & BE...the, too often, obscure notion of FREEDOM.
